Taking Control of Anxiety

Online or face-to-face workshops for

Teenagers experiencing GCSE or A-Level anxiety

Anxiety is a natural response to challenging situations, such as taking exams. It’s completely normal to feel anxious when preparing for your GCSEs or A-Levels. However, when anxiety becomes overwhelming, it can hinder your performance and well-being. This workshop aims to help you manage anxiety effectively, so it doesn’t take over your life.

Many teenagers feel anxious during the run-up to exams for various reasons. The pressure to perform well, fear of failure, and the sheer volume of material to study can all contribute to heightened anxiety levels. Additionally, the expectations from parents, teachers, and even peers can add to the stress.

What's included in this anxiety workshop:

1. Awareness of Thoughts and Their Impact: In the first hour, we will focus on understanding how our thoughts influence our feelings and behaviours. You’ll learn to identify negative thought patterns that contribute to anxiety and practice techniques to challenge and reframe these thoughts. By becoming aware of how your mind works, you can start to take control of your anxiety.

2. Reviewing Existing Strengths and Talents: The second hour will be dedicated to recognising and celebrating your strengths and talents. Often, anxiety makes us forget what we’re good at. We’ll engage in activities that help you reflect on your past achievements and skills. This positive reinforcement can boost your confidence and remind you of your capabilities.

3. Exploring Self-Belief and Learning from Experience: In the final hour, we’ll explore the concept of self-belief and its importance in overcoming anxiety. You’ll learn how to use your previous experiences, both successes and failures, as valuable lessons for the future. Building a strong sense of self-belief can help you face challenges with a more positive and resilient mindset.
